So what is Art Therapy anyway?

Blue paint explosion in a graffiti alleyway.

Is it finding your stash of paints and making a mess on paper? Somewhat. However, Art Therapy adds meaning to the creative expression. It is an outlet for a new language to emerge releasing what is stuck in the body, mind and emotional landscape.

Can you remember a time when you were emotionally choked up and words could not escape? Or, you couldn’t find the words to explain what can sometimes be the unexplainable?

“A loss of words”, is the saying.

Traumatic experiences or what we call the ‘Mack truck of life’; a whirlwind of changing events (divorce/ illness/ a loved one passes) neatly packed into a small window of time can lodge fragmented experiences in the mind.

It is these fragments that yearn to be retold gifting a new perspective for healing.

You have the power

Art Therapy allows the fragments to be safely explored and provides the ability to reframe your story for an empowering process of healing and liberation.

In order to know the light, we must experience the darkness.
— Carl Jung

To see an Art Therapist is a way to offload what is weighing us down and transform that excess load for higher meaning. An Art Therapist will stand by you as you retell your struggles, as you know it, and witness a change of energetics as you transform through the artist tool of expression.

The journey is the renewal

Like the arc of water released back to the sea with a flick of the hair, true clarity comes from the shedding. We return what is heavy to the infinite, emerging from the immersion not just clean, but weightless and ready to breathe again.

You essentially lighten the load through artistic expression and shine a light on who you truly are, soul wrapped up in a body. As all emotions can be processed safely without any imposed inhibitions.

The Art Therapy process can be likened to this act of releasing what is not essential and transmuting it for inner wisdom. How refreshing that we all can access creative engagement at anytime outside of a private therapy room. A space to reduce stress, quiet the mind, explore possibility and add joy to your life.

Creating ritual, sacred space. A space for you.

You can start by unlocking your intuitive skills to birth something new and unearth your unique creative style in our free Intuitive Art as Medicine e-course.
