Contrast as the anecdote for the monotonous!

Do not let anybody place you in a conceptual box

as flexibility is the juice that fuels the mind

of a free spirit.

If everything in this world was either black or white, there wouldn’t be shades of grey. In fact, the monochromatic scale invites in nuances, differences and subtleties of visual stimuli to invoke a range of moods. A much more interesting terrain to navigate in a painterly world, contrast.

Life can be similar in the way that you would not want to be limited to either or, and instead make room for the in between, slightly off point and fluid.

Because being stuck in a mood, tailspin, or pattern of monotony can be the very death of joy in time. It can feel like when a record becomes stuck and the song repeats on one beat for far too long. This can also be if you are playing to someone else’s song instead of your own tune and therefore, falling into the trap of meeting everyone else’s expectations other than your own. Usually you end up feeling cheated and resentful, so best to nurture what breathes new life into your being as to, in turn, breath new life into the collective from a place of authenticity.

When we let go and invite in something new, we meet a fresh new aspect of ourselves that contributes to a new perspective on how we tango with our world.

Finding yourself surrounded by the same people, same patterns, same music e.t.c can reap the rewards of sensing stability (what is familiar), but can also lead to the rigidity of avoiding a new perspective or experience.

It is usually when we move away from what feels safe that new ground is found. Fresh new energy enters to invigorate the brain when we open up to process new stimuli and invite in the richness of what was unknown before.

Ask yourself is it time to explore new ground, whether that be new music, a new restaurant or new hobby outside of your usual routine. As inviting in contrast can completely change the trajectory of a stale vibe, that is sometimes masked as the familiar.

Thoughts?

Is it time to face the fear and venture off the old familiar road? What does that look like? Who are you serving and is it serving you? Is there a mine of gems waiting to be explored of old forgotten memories, where joy lives spurring on new energy for old passions? Or, is it simply time to break an old pattern you picked up long ago and replace it with a new one that better serves your existence?

One thing is for sure, the universe is not fixed and neither are you.
